When will our President of change start looking domestically at our own reserves and stop relying on others to help run our cars and fill our gas tanks? Does Santa Clause need to run out of fuel first and lose his job before we start exploring other options for oil drilling? His green stance is killing our pocketbooks by jacking up the rates at the local gas stations around the country, and worst of all we are still suffering from one of the most horrific economic downturns in the last century. He still argues that the oil reserves that we have access to make up less than 3% of the world's total supply, and that it would be economically unfeasible to tap into these resources anyway. I beg to differ on this point.
This estimate does not include the 10 billion barrels available in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR). It also does not include most of the 86 billion barrels available offshore in the Outer Continental Shelf, most of which the President has placed under an executive drilling ban. And, it does not include the 800 billion barrels of oil we have locked in shale in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, which is currently cost-prohibitive to extract commercially. Those shale resources alone are actually three times larger than the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia, so the claim that the U.S. only has 2% of the world’s oil is clearly false.
From his deep water oil moratoriums in the Gulf of Mexico, to his misguided attempts at avoiding the natural resources we have at our disposal in other parts of North America, this leader of hope needs to sharpen his knowledge of this most important topic, and get it right for a change. Our country is suffering enough without having to pay 5 bucks at the pumps for regular unleaded and always having to brown nose the Saudi government. We can only go green for so long before our people completely lose it. High School is over Mr. President!
