I Love the First Amendment - But The Westboro Baptist Morons Have Taken It to the Worst Level Yet!

These guys are friggin pathetic and should be ashamed of the moronic behavior they've displayed, but at least they showed a tad bit of respect for the late Elizabeth Taylor and didn't start picketing outside of her funeral this week as they had planned to.  Not sure why they backed off, since they've shown up all throughout the country using their message of hate towards homosexuals at countless funerals especially targeting the deceased heroes of our military.

I guess that's the price you pay for our first amendments rights.  We are given every opportunity for freedom of speech in this country, and it is the cornerstone of argument and debate that has led us through years of peace and prosperity.  It has also helped us build a nation that has been a leader globally for more than a century.  These are rights that communist and dictatorial-led nations just do not have, and they pay an even heavier penalty resulting in oppression and loss of freedoms that we here in the U.S. at times take for granted. It just sickens me though to think that groups such as the Westboro Baptist Church have to take advantage of those civil liberties that we inherently have as a nation of free men and women.

We must guard against such groups and stand up to them every chance we can get, even if the Supreme Court protects their right to protest (which they just did on March 2nd ruling 8-1 that the Church and other such hate groups are permitted to hoist hateful slogans such as "Thank God for Dead Soldiers").  And remember, the Constitution of the United of America is a living and breathing document, so we shouldn't just sit back and not challenge it from time to time and help it to evolve to the current state of the union.

Your High School acts are getting tired my Westboro friends, but take comfort in the fact that you have the right to voice your idiotic opinions no matter how vile and ugly they can get.
